– Sunnat, Uzbekistan

The dream of becoming a truck driver has been in Sunnat’s heart since childhood. A citizen of Uzbekistan, Sunnat was always focused on his dream – in his home country, he worked as a taxi driver, a crane driver, and a truck driver, but he was always dreaming of exploring European roads. And now, after years of hard work and efforts, his dream finally has come true!

Two years ago, Sunnat saw a video on Instagram of a driver from our company and realized – this was his chance. Today, he is a successful truck driver working at Girteka on the European fleet and has no regrets about his choice of country and employer.

“The transport base, the training center, the HR department—everything is at the highest level. I truly appreciate the quality of training at Girteka.”

Sunnat shared with us that he was lucky —his employment process took only four months. Now he hears from colleagues that the process is taking longer due to changes in legislation and migration policies.

Upon arriving in Lithuania, Sunnat was positively surprised: “The transport base, the training center, the HR department—everything is at the highest level. I truly appreciate the quality of training at Girteka. I learned a lot of new things and expanded my theoretical knowledge from driving school. In Uzbekistan, there is no training on the 95 Code, work and rest rules, etc. That’s why I just “absorbed” everything the instructors and trainers at Girteka’s training center taught me. Here I would like to note that practical work experience is essential for drivers coming to work in Europe. There is so much to learn and memorize, and then you need to combine this theoretical knowledge with driving experience. If you are a skilled truck driver, it is much easier to apply the new theoretical knowledge during the internship and put it into practice when you go on the road independently.”

We are incredibly happy for our colleague when he tells us: “In Lithuania, and in Europe in general, I feel like I am at home.”

Adapting to new working and living conditions in Europe was easy for Sunnat. The only thing that Sunnat still cannot get used to is European food. “Everything is great, the only thing is that I am still not used to European food, so I cook my own national dishes. Many of them take a long time to prepare, and the conditions do not always allow me to do that. But if I have a 45-hour rest and there is an opportunity to place a stove in the open air, I always make sure to cook pilaf or shurpa soup,” he says. However, there is one European food Sunnat enjoys—croissants, which he tried for the first time in Italy. Now, he dreams of having breakfast of coffee with a real, still warm French croissant in the homeland of these tasty delicacies!

We asked a colleague what the expectations were of working in Europe and what was the reality, Sunnat replies, “The reality exceeded my expectations. I am very satisfied with everything. Working in Europe has opened new opportunities for my professional growth. Thanks to all the training provided by Girteka, I know much more valuable information, and every day I gain valuable practical experience.”

Our colleague would also like to share some advice for those who are considering working in Europe: “As a truck driver in Europe, you can earn good money. If you decide to come here, don’t forget the importance of knowing Russian or English—or, ideally, both. You will need to take training courses, communicate with your transport manager and colleagues, and interact with company employees during loading and unloading. I would also like to note professional driving skills and responsibility, which are necessary to drive safely and confidently on the roads of Europe and be a competent representative of the company.”

“I am very thankful to Albertina for her professionalism, support, and understanding in work-related matters, as well as for her friendly and respectful communication.”

Sunnat expresses his gratitude to his transport manager Albertina: “I am very thankful to Albertina for her professionalism, support, and understanding in work-related matters, as well as for her friendly and respectful communication.” In turn, Albertina shared with us that Sunnat is a responsible employee — never being late, always completing his tasks on time. He is always enthusiastic and positive, which is especially important in our work.

We are very happy to have drivers like Sunnat in our team and wish him continued success and professional growth.

Sunnat’s experience is a story of success, of hard work, and the achievement of dreams. Through his example, he proves that if you have a goal and ambition, you can achieve a lot.
