Oleksandr – winner of the 13th season of ECO-League
Path to profession
Today, we are pleased to introduce our colleague – driver Oleksandr, the winner of the 13th season of the motivational ECO League project! This initiative is aimed at promoting an eco-friendly, economical, and efficient driving style, and Oleksandr has proven that personal determination and the drive to be the best lead to outstanding results.
Over the years, he has experience driving different types of vehicles – from buses to heavy trucks, but the one he liked the most was driving a truck. “Behind the wheel of a truck, I found everything that I was missing before,” he says. Oleksandr’s experience is impressive, only on European routes in Girteka Oleksandr has been driving for 8 years.
Why Girteka
You always work on serviceable, reliable vehicles, and this is both comfort and safety in the trips.
One of the main advantages of working in the company he calls the modern fleet of vehicles. “You always work on serviceable, reliable vehicles, and this is both comfort and safety in the trips,” – he notes. But not only vehicles are an advantage – well-organized work processes, professional support of managers and understanding of all the details of the driver’s work make the work calmer and more predictable. “You just get behind the wheel and drive, knowing you have support, and everything is under control.”
Victory in the ECO League: Striving for the Best
I have always made an effort to drive carefully, but thanks to this project I started to pay attention to new details.
Participating in the ECO League was a challenge for Oleksandr. “I have always made an effort to drive carefully, but thanks to this project I started to pay attention to new details,” he says. The first results were far from great, but thanks to his persistence and the new Fleethand system, which allows real-time performance tracking of eco-driving, our colleague won.
“Eco-driving is not just about saving fuel — it is about a mindful approach to managing the vehicle. Smooth acceleration, consideration of cargo, route, and weather conditions — all these factors combined help you reach better results,” Oleksandr explains. He also notes that the company’s internal training programs were useful even for experienced drivers like himself. “You think you know it all but then realize that you can still improve your skills,” he admits.
After achieving victory, he has no intention of slowing down. “It is important not only to win, but also to keep the high level. I will continue to improve,” he says.
Being a long-haul driver is not just about covering thousands of kilometers — it is also a chance to see the world. Oleksandr always tries to use his free time to explore new sites. “I had to walk 15 kilometers one way to the Tower of Pisa and the same distance back – but it was worth it!”, – he smiles.
However, the most unforgettable impression for him came from visiting Venice. “This city is completely different and truly special. Narrow canals, ancient buildings, and a unique atmosphere — I had never seen anything like it before.”
Congratulations and Best Wishes
Oleksandr’s family, friends, and colleagues sincerely congratulated him on his well-deserved victory.
We also congratulate Oleksandr and all the colleagues who strived for success — your efforts and results matter, and we wish everyone to continue to strive for the top of Olympus!
